The Robo Devils Make it to the Semi-Finals in the World Championships

Smart Wheel Canada in company with Microsoft, TD Bank and the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) is proud to be sponsoring Team 5036: The Robo Devils from Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the FIRST Championship in St. Louis, Missouri. The First Championship presented by Qualcomm Incorporated is the culmination of the season’s FIRST programs, bringing together tens of thousands of students of all ages for the ultimate celebration of science and technology. Over the span of three days, the Smart Wheel Canada team along with over 40 000 supporters and spectators anxiously watched and cheered on the Robo Devils as they competed at the world’s largest robotics competition.
At the FIRST Championship, middle school and high school students compete in Alliances with their team-designed robots on themed playing fields. With over 400 of the best Robotics teams around the world, The Robo Devils’ journey ended in the semi-finals falling short by three seconds against Team 254: The Cheesy Poofs, the number one alliance from Bellarmine College Prepartory in the San Francisco Bay Area.
While competing against three other teams from their district, (Crescent School, Western Technical-Commercial School and Woburn Collegiate Institute), the Robo Devils continue to rank number four out of 39 teams in Ontario. GO ROBO DEVILS! We’re so proud of you.
If you missed this year’s festivities, the FIRST Festival of Champions will be held on July 28 and 29 in Manchester, New Hampshire and the FIRST Championship will be held next April in Houston, Texas and Detroit, Michigan.
